My Story

I grew up in a little ski town in the Kootenays known as Nelson. Famous for it's very different atmosphere, powder skiing, and health food, Nelson is my favourite place to be. When I got out of highschool I delayed leaving as long as I could. I went to college for a one year program in Classroom and Community Support work one town over. I enjoyed my practicums in elementary classrooms, supporting students as an Education Assistant. However, I discovered that I wanted a little more responsibility and creative freedom. So I decided to pursue a teaching degree.

Unfortunately that meant leaving my favourite little town, and my family. They helped out a lot, and together we made the 10+ hour drive to the island and the city of Victoria, along with my partner and another friend from college. My partner had purchased a condo, and we all moved in, and began life in Victoria, September 2014. My partner and our roommate went strait to UVic, while I did some online courses, and then a semester at Camosun College. After that I waited with a hopeful heart for word that I had been accepted to the Bachelors of Elementary Education Program at UVic. Thankfully the email finally came, and that's where I'm at now.

I just finished my second semester of the second year of my degree. I started my first practicum in a Grade 7 classroom on April 11. So far, I love it. It is crazy busy, but I've met some amazing people, had some incredible teachers, and learned more than I ever thought possible. It's been wonderful, and I'm excited for next semester!

I hope you enjoy reading my blog!
